Environmental liability insurance generally provides protection from bodily injury, property damage, and remediation expenses arising out of the release of contaminants into the environment.
As an example, the Philadelphia Insurance Companies offers two types of environmental liability insurance policies, one for contractors (Contractors Environmental Coverage) and one for other businesses (Premises Environmental Coverage).

Contracting Operations Environmental Liability: Provides coverage for the loss or remediation expense that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of contamination caused by its contracting operations, completed operations or transportation (as a result
of a claim for bodily injury, property damage or environmental damage).
Waste Disposal Liability: Provides coverage for loss or remediation expense that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of a claim for bodily injury, property damage or environmental damage arising out of contamination caused by waste disposal.
Insured Location Liability: Provides coverage for loss or remediation expense that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of emergency expenses or a claim for bodily injury, property damage or remediation expense arising out of contamination on, under or
migrating beyond the legal boundaries of the insured location.
Image Restoration: Provides coverage for expenses incurred for image restoration arising out of damages to the insured's reputation or consumer confidence as a result of contamination that results in bodily injury, property damage, or remediation expense covered under the policy.
Professional Liability: Provides coverage for the professional loss that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of a claim arising from an actual or alleged act, error or omission in the performance of professional services.
Remediation of On-site and Off-site Contamination: Provides coverage for remediation expenses resulting from contamination on, under, or migrating from and beyond the boundaries of the insured location.
Third Party Bodily Injury and Property Damage: Provides coverage for the loss that the insured is legally obligated to pay as a result of a claim from bodily injury or property damage arising out of contamination on, under or migrating from the insured location.
